namaacha

hello,

this will be short because im paying 1 MTn per minute to be on here and can barely use the internet, but i just wanted to let you guys know whats going on. I have moved in with a homestay family in the moçambican village of namaacha and have started pre service training. my day begins around 545 am when i get up and soon thereafter, take a bath. but this bath takes place outside, with a bucket and a cup and a bar of soap and me shivering uncontrollably, thus creating my doubt that i will ever be fully clean in the next two years. then i go to classes all day, learning portuguese and things about mozambican culture and health and many other things. after my day i return and do my homework and eat with my host family (and they dont speak english mind you, and my portuguese is horrible!) and then go to sleep by about 9pm. quite a different life to say the least. i cant believe ive only been here like five days.

communication is tough here because i wont use internet hardly at all but i do have a phone. it would mean a lot to hear from any of you guys because i miss everyone terribly. i emailed it out with my last email, you just have to dial 011 258 and then the number. from skype its only like 14 cents a minute to moz and i can also text for really cheap! between 8am and noon pacific time is best. it would really mean a lot to hear from any of you.

also, i dont have much time here to respond to emails but i just wanted to let you guys know that for all of you who have replied to my update emails and blog posts, it means a ton. even though it might be awhile until i can write back please know that it warms my heart to hear from you guys.
